Baseball Hitting Drill: The A-Rod Drill

This drill helps players learn to hit the ball properly to the opposite field, as well as maintain balance through the finish.

Using a soft toss net, cage or back stop, have the player get in a proper batting stance. You will toss the ball towards the players back hip, which will force him/her to hit to the opposite field. After the swing the player should hold their finish, and then take one step as if moving towards first base. If a player falls off the ball, losing balance, it means that too much weight is on their back leg. If they fall forward then they are leaning too far forward. In either case they are not properly balanced.
